3rd Big Bleed (8W2D)

I can tell you that this doesn't get any easier. I was driving home from work last night and felt the all to common " flood gates opening up". It was only four days since my last big bleed and I was just thinking that I had gone all day with zero spotting. It was followed by large clots the size of my palm and cramps along with back pain. I just knew this time was different and I had lost the babies. Of course I think about it every second of every day. The stress of this is finally starting to get to me. I am usually a strong person, but find myself breaking down mentally and emotionally more and more daily. I haven't been able to enjoy the 8 weeks of this pregnancy because of the worry I am losing them daily with bleeding. Of course I got into the RE first thing this morning and even though he was out of the office today, I was able to see the other RE. The hoppers are alive. Thank you.

Hopper "A" was measuring 8w4d and had hb of 179.
Hopper "B" was measuring 8w3d and had hb of 177.

The third sac was empty today. He was having issues seeing everything going on in there and didn't say much about the SCH. He did tell me that at this point of being over 8 weeks and having strong heartbeats that my chance of miscarriage was LOW. I then reminded him that I've had 6 miscarriages and those statistics don't mean a lot to me at this point. He then told me how common bleeding is in early pregnancy. "IF I had a dollar for every time I have heard that" .  Well as of today my hoppers have made it through 3  huge bleeds and are going strong. Thank you.

My next appointment is next Wednesday and I will be 9 weeks. I am expecting call from the OB today to schedule my first appointment. I will also let him know about the sch so he can get me in to see the MFM. Hopefully they can get a better handle on it.

To anyone that has went through this and had an active sch, I have all the respect in the world for you!

  1. That sounds absolutely horrible to go through once, let alone three times.

Your babies must be tethered to you with titanium. I think because they weathered these storms, that they are here to stay.

I'm so glad they are doing well.

I'm curious, has the doctor mentioned anything about bed rest or lifting restrictions etc? I don't know anything about sch (I had to google it after reading about yours). I was just thinking that CCRM put me on restrictions of lifting anything over 10lbs with my last transfer, it was supposed to stay that way until 12 weeks.

    1. My RE has not put on on any restrictions. I am hoping that the mfm will be more proactive and knowledgeable on what to do from here on out. I haven't been lifting anything or even walking etc. I try to lay down when I get home in the evenings.

  2. I hate that you are experiencing all of this bleeding. I know the feeling all too well. My first 14 weeks of pregnancy were terrifying. I would bleed at least once every week. I had 2 SCH. I find doctors don't give too much info about them and I think that's because they have no idea what they will do (like how much they will bleed, why they are there, when and if they will go away, etc.). I know it's easier said than done, but stay strong. Your two babies are proving to be fighters :)

  3. I bled with the pregnancy I lost, and they told me my uterus was "bruised" from the baby implanting. They said that the bleeding would go away, and it did. It scared me to death, though! The bleeding had absolutely nothing to do with why I lost my little angel, but I can relate to how scary that feeling is, despite what the doctors tell you. I'm still thrilled for you and so happy that your babies are thriving so well. I prayed for you and your hoppers this morning, that God would keep them strong. **HUGS**

  5. Rest and relax is the key along with hydration. You can get through this and it will be scary every single day. I hope you didn't think God was going to be easy on you. You had to fight to get them here, you are going to have to fight to keep them safe and cozy, and when they get here well its on! Hang in there and throw the towel in and don't try to be super women in this fight. Bed rest is what you really need for a couple of weeks and then take it easy. It may not solve your issue but it certainly won't hurt anything either. Hang in there Sis!

  7. I just can't even fathom. You, my friend, are amazing. Even if you don't feel strong, you seem strong through your posts. I am amazed by you each time you post. I just know that you can do this and I am thrilled that you and babies are ok. Praying against the bleeding and I'm pretty sure if I were you I would have socked that RE right in the face for his stupid comments. You and those strong babies are such an inspiration!! XOXO

    1. Wow that means so much to me right now. I guess on days that you feel defeated, it helps so much when people have the words to pick you back up.

  8. Oh gosh....I'm so sorry. I know the site of any kind of blood is enough to take all our hope away. I'm sooooooo happy the babies are thriving and healthy. One of my good friends is a PA for planed parenthood and is currently pregnant and she said told me moms can almost always feel safe after 9 weeks of pregnancy. You are so close, and I agree with the RE that your babies are thriving so well, heartbeats are so very strong, and your betas were knocked out of the park. I have a really strong feeling your carrying two boys!!! Another thing...do you think maybe you bleed out the SCH, since they couldn't find it? If so then maybe this is the end of the bleeding for you.....I truly truly hope this it, and you can breath a little a enjoy this time with the babies before they are here!!!!

    1. I also have a feeling that it is two boys :) My regular doctor found the sch on Monday, but the doctor today was trying to poke the babies eyes out with the wand. It was measuring 19mm on Monday. I will see on Wednesday if it has grown or is shrinking.

  9. Since you have some blood clotting issues, I don't think you should be on a bed rest, just take it easy. However, depending where your sch is, might decide upon this issue. I would advise you to contact Dr. Kim and tell her about your clot position in order to advise you how to behave.
I'm sure the hoppers will be fine. Just take it slowly.
