NICU

On September 10, 2014, Lilah and Olivia were born premature at 30w0d. Lilah weighed 3lbs and was 14.5 inches long. Olivia weighed 3lbs 5 oz and was 15 inches long. They were both started off on CPAP and taken to the NICU. Here is our journey though the days, weeks and months of NICU care. I also have a facebook page set up for the girls so you can follow their journey. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1553357041562367/ or search Lilah & Olivia Rapp NICU 2014.

Lilah Grace- was born with a huge hole in her heart or otherwise called a VSD. She will require surgery to patch up the hole.  About a week old the doctors started her on a new heart medication and it caused kidney failure. She lost weight and was in very bad condition. I was so scared we would lose her. They discontinued the medication after first dose and within a week her kidneys started working properly again. She was moved to the cardiac wing of the NICU. So far each day she is continuing to gain weight and grow. As of 33 days in the NICU she is up to 3lbs 11 oz. We can only take one day at a time and be grateful for Lilah still being with us.

Olivia June- Has been healthy since her birth and gains weight regularly. She is eating 81% of her feeds through bottles and is now weighing 4lbs 9oz. It looks like she may be home before Halloween!

Lilah Grace was released out of the NICU just short of 9 weeks and Olivia June stayed 6 weeks.
