Thirty Two

This is how many infusions I've had since the beginning of the year. Dr. Kim told me in the early stages of treatment that I would be having the infusions until 22 weeks or so. I am 26 weeks and just heard back from the clinic this morning. It was not the news I wanted to hear at all. They are increasing my dosage from 15grams to 30 grams. I will at least be able to start doing them every other week instead of every week. Out of the 32 infusions I've only had two reactions which is fantastic news. Am I being a total downer? So tired of needles. Most woman get to leave all this behind once they get pregnant. It seems my reality will be that I am having these infusions until the end of this pregnancy. My husband says it is my decision and I can stop whenever I want, but I am so afraid something will happen and I have come so far to jeopardize all the progress and the girls being safe and healthy. My MFM and OB both believe that I don't need them any longer and the most important thing that keep going with is the 80mg of Lovenox and baby aspirin.

Well enough of the complaining. Back to regular scheduled programming. Still waiting to hear back on my 3 hour glucose test.

  1. I can understand not wanting to mess anything up and just think it'll all be worth it when those beautiful girls arrive!! Thinking of you :)

  2. I know that fear of wanting to make sure everything is okay, so I agree with your decision to continue. It will definitely be worth it!

  3. Hang in there. When you have those healthy girls in your arms it will all be so worth it. I am bracing myself for when my infusions start in a month. 30 grams sounds high - how long does it take to do the infusion?

    1. We had my 15 grams down to two hours, but now with 30grams we will be looking at 3-4 hours. Word of advice, if you start having a reaction to your infusions ask your doctor to implement saline along with the actual medications. It has helped the side effects tremendously for me.

  4. You've made it this far and have been ok for the most part... just hang in there, it will be over before you know it and your girls will be in your arms!

  5. That really sucks, but I hear you on the not wanting to mess with what's working. I'd stick it out too, and I freaking HATE needles. You've been a total champ with this, I know you can make it.

  6. Oh my goodness, it is understandable that you might complain a little. I'm sure so many needles are exhausting! I'm sure you will do what is best and those babies can't get here soon enough (but not too soon),
