Well today is beta #3. I will update later this afternoon with the results. Here are my pee stick pics from this morning 16DPO.
I also would love some feedback from lovenox users. Any of you that went on to get pregnant, did your bruising get much worse after the BFP? Did you increase your dosage? Since I increased my two 40mg 2x daily I am bruising with almost every injection. I have tried below belly on side of belly on top of belly etc. It is really more of a nuisance verses anything else.
Don't mind the bloating :)
Are you icing? I started bruising worse only once they upped my dose from 40mg/day to 60 mg/day (at 14 wks).
ReplyDeleteI started icing the area 10 min before and a couple minutes after injection about a week ago though because it was getting so bad, and what a difference! Teeny tiny little bruises the size of the needle prick in comparison to huge bruises/welts that spread out. GL with today's beta!
No I haven't used ice. I will give it a shot though. Thanks!
DeleteYour poor belly. Maybe you could check in with your clinic on this? Perhaps you could have a needle in your upper arm to give your poor tummy a break? I'm on Lovenox too (40IU a day), and 81mg of aspirin, but haven't had these bruises this time around. (But I did get them my first time taking it).
ReplyDeleteI am definitely thinking it is because of the increase. For many months I only had the small pin prick marks.
DeleteI don't know specifically about bruising from these injections, but I bruise very easily, so I have some experience in getting bruises to heal quicker. I'm a blood donor and bruise pretty badly from the needles too. I would second Emily's comments about the ice for sure. If it's not too sore, you can try gently massaging the bruises to increase the flow of blood--but don't do this if it's too painful! Also, you can mix vinegar with warm water and rub it over the bruises. Vinegar increases blood flow near the skin's surface, so it can help move the pooled blood.
ReplyDeleteHopefully something works - those look painful!
I will give that a shot!
DeleteYour poor tummy! I hope the bruises heal quickly! I don't have any experience with injections, but I imagine the icing would do wonders! Your tests look amazing :) I can't wait to hear what your third beta is! Yippy!!
ReplyDeleteDid you hear back on your b/w??
DeleteFinally! Just now! I was about to fall apart and storm into the office... beta hcg 49,398! Phew!
DeleteIcing helps for sure. Also, how fast are you injecting? I found if I slowed down (both with inserting, injecting and removing) the needle, the bruising subsided. The faster you go, the worse it is.
ReplyDeleteLines look amazing! Fingers crossed for more good news!!!!!
I do inject very slowly. I started using a new brand also.
DeleteOh no your poor belly!! I hope the bruising stops soon.
ReplyDeleteYour pregnancy test lines look great!
Hoping for great numbers today!
DeleteI bruised the least when I did the shots closest to my belly button. That really helped. The further away, the bigger the bruise.
ReplyDeleteThanks for feedback :)
DeleteI wish your beta numbers would hurry up already!
ReplyDeleteThey are here :)
DeleteFor me I found I bruised more if my abdominal muscles weren't relaxed. I had to lay down get spot ready and do a slow injection without looking. And as silly as this may sound I also had to make sure that bubble of air was at the top of the needle before doing injection else I would bruise like the dickens. A good tap or flick brings it to the top (away from the needle!)
ReplyDeleteI am so overjoyed for you and looking forward to an amazing beta and soon an awesome ultrasound pic!
I never thought about tapping the top of needle Jess. I guess since it was already pre drawn up I just figured that the air bubbles stayed
DeleteI always bruised on my belly too, but once my hematologist saw the bruises he told me to do it on the outside of my upper thigh. It worked great bruised a little every once in a while but that was it. I had to be on lovenox til I was 20 weeks. I firmly believe lovenox is the reason I got pregnant to begin with and kept me pregnant. They also taught me me squeeze the skin for the shot, but once the needle was in to release the skin. Trust me it does get better, but I feel you...I totally feel you. Can't wait to hear the results....I know they are going to be great!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really believe that blood thinners, infusion and steroids are what got me to this point.
Deleteoh my gosh you poor thing!!!
ReplyDeleteSending you lots of good vibes for beta #3 :)
Yikes! That's some serious bruising!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I only bruised when I couldn't ice...and would bruise bad...so I always tried to make sure I could ice before each shot!
